Wedding...I don't know anything about a wedding?

So I get this pamphlet or ad thingy (official term) in the mail the other day. It tells me to come down to some tuxedo place to get a special deal for my special day which apparently has already been scheduled according to them. So is there something I don't know about? Is someone planning to marry me and just hasn't popped the question yet, but they have been calling tuxedo places trying to get a deal? Please let me know who it is because I would think it's more important for the bride-to-be to know about that before the tux place.

Fridays-2 for the price of one

Things to ponder on Friday... Random Thoughts... Praises and Blessings

-Why do I have nothing to blog about? (I'm not too funny in writing. I'm much better in person. Well, at least I think I'm funny in person. Jessica always tells me that I think I'm funnier than I really am.)

Back to pondering....
-Why on my day off... Friday.. does the lawnguy come at 8 in the morning and weed eat right outside my window? :)
-What does God desire to do in and through my life today?
-Where does God have me today?

-God is so faithful
-Praise God for friends and family
-Cuba was a huge blessing. (All the attached pics are from there) I can't even begin to put it into words. God was present. God loved on us while we were there. God encouraged us. I pray that God used us while we were there too, but I feel like I was blessed 100 fold. Praise God for missions and what He is doing in other countries. It is a huge blessing to see our God bridging gaps of language, culture, and so much more so that He will be glorified. I pray that He will continue to move in that country and in other countries.

So I was sitting on the couch the other day watching TV with my roomie. I was flipping through the channels and saw a cheerleading competition on ESPN so I stopped just for a minute. Have you seen those flips and how they throw their fellow cheerleaders around? Crazy! So Jessica comments and says something like, "they sure wear some big bows." (They did have rather large bows in their hair.)

What most of you don't know about me is that in high school I was an avid bow wearer. I always wore them running track. Kind of weird, I know, but it was a ritual for me. My friends always used to make fun of me and told me I probably lost races because of the wind drag from my bows. They were pretty big, I admit, but it was my speed that lost those races not my big bows.

So back to the story. I have a sudden flashback of high school and then I decided to sing her my song about bows. I don't know where I got it, but it's funny. Try to sing it in your head and it'll make you laugh.

Sung to the tune of I'm a Little Teapot

I'm a little bowhead
Short and Stout
Here is my Bow (point to bow)
And here is my pout (make fist like you're pouting)
When I get all steamed up here me shout
Oh my God, my bow fell out (valley girl emphasis on this statement)

I hope it makes you at least laugh at the thought of me making a fool of myself and singing it. :) Happy Friday!

Shady Moments Continued.....

So, I just got back from Lake Louise where I spent 6 wonderful days with friends, cool weather, beautiful scenery, skiing, and more shady moments.

Shady moment #523:

We're at dinner. I have to go use the restroom so I excuse myself from the table, walk over to the restroom, and proceed into the men's restroom. As I open the door I do a doubletake and realize I'm in the wrong place and head towards the right place.

Croquet Part Deux

Not many comments on the last croquet blog so I'm trying it again. I did a little research on the croquet front. I looked it up online and apparently there are some options for those of us who aren't quite ready to jump into the whites and play the old people's game of croquet. The two options are eXtreme croquet and bicycle croquet.

eXtreme croquet is the ultimate contest.
You are surrounded by ruthless competitors.
Your fate depends entirely on your own skill, and your killer instinct.
In short - eXtreme croquet is like life itself...
(quote from website)

These people are serious and take croquet to a whole other level. It looks like fun to me!!

So I was walking at the park this morning and I was rounding the corner and saw the croquet field actually being used. I've been to the park many times in the last few years and have never seen such a sight. It was a bunch of older people (60's and up) all dressed in white with their little mallets in hand. They had little white tents set up on the side to keep themselves shaded. I felt like I should go put on something white and see if I could drink tea with the ole' chaps. It was very fun. How do you suppose one becomes a croquet player? I hope that I'm a fun 50 year old croquet player one day.

Can I have your attention please?

Will the real slim shady please stand up, please stand up, please stand up?

Alright, it's time for another shady moment with none other than the shady lady.

So I'm in the office (plant) and I'm messing with a temperature gun. (You aim it at something and press the trigger and voila you have a temperature.) So I aim it at one of my coworkers and he reads some temperature and then I aim it at myself and it reads a higher temperature. Then I say, "Girls are way hotter than guys."

This has been another shady moment brought to you by Katie the Shady Lady.

St. Patty's Day Party

Our party setup

Mint brownies
I had so much fun baking on Friday for our St. Patrick's Day Party. I think I actually went into baking overdose. By about 6pm on Friday I was done for. I won't need my fix again for a few more weeks. I made sugar cookies (They looked so cute thanks to my fun roomie Jessica. I've actually never been good with the decorating, but Friday was a very good day as you can see from the picture below), mint brownies, chocolate butterfly cupcakes with lime buttercream frosting, and puppy chow. The cupcakes and brownies were new recipes that went very well with the green theme, but I'm still not sure I'm the biggest fan. I'm debating about bringing them to work tomorrow. I mean there is only one chance for a first impression, and I don't know if I want these to be my first impression on them. Mmmm..... what to do, what to do?

Super cute sugar cookies

Fun butterfly cupcakes

So if you know me at all you will know that I'm an avid baker. I love and I do mean love to bake. I am in the middle of a baking drought right now and I'm having baking withdrawl. All week I've been sitting at my desk at work and I've been craving baking. Every night I'm... (not really). I have been looking for fun recipes, though. I really miss it. The reason for my strike is professionalism. Professionalism, you say? What does that have to do with it? Well, everything my friend. My job was sort of my testing ground for new baking ideas and old ones that I just love to make over and over again. My coworkers (almost all guys) were my guinea pigs. Guys eat anything that's edible so it worked pretty well. I have recently changed jobs, though. Now that I've changed jobs I haven't baked because I need to be Katie the engineer not Betty Crocker. At least not for a little while. Once that's done then let the baking begin.
(It's actually beginning again this weekend because we're having a party, but it probably won't start for a little while at work. )
